We work with a range of partners to produce our popular Activities in the Park program as well as various initiatives focused on public health and diversity, creating a range of opportunities for the community to Get Mooving.
Get Mooving Greater Shepparton works with a number of local and regional partners who assist us in developing and presenting a range of programs and initiatives each year.
VicHealth
The Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (VicHealth) is a pioneer in health promotion – the process of enabling people to increase control over and improve their health. Their primary focus is promoting good health and preventing chronic disease.
VicHealth create and fund world-class interventions. They conduct vital research to advance Victoria’s population health. Through producing and supporting public campaigns to promote a healthier Victoria they provide transformational expertise and insights to government.
Above all VicHealth seek to make health gains among Victorians by pre-empting and targeting improvements in health across the population, fostered within the day-to-day spaces where people spend their time, and with benefits to be enjoyed by all.
VicHealth have partnered with Greater Shepparton City Council to fund a number of initiatives including the Shepparton Culture Kitchens, Backyard Community Gardens, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Grass Snippets and others.
This Girl Can
This Girl Can – Victoria celebrates and supports Victorian women to embrace physical activity in a way that suits them. Whether it’s a little or a lot, what matters is getting some movement into every day.
While many women know that exercising is important for physical and mental health, that doesn’t change the fact that up to 50% of women aren’t getting enough exercise each week.
Research shows that a big part of not trying new activities or getting involved in sport for Victorian women is a fear of being judged, or not being fit enough to start. Not to mention, twice as many women than men put off getting active because they’re worried about what other people think. Sports, gyms and moving your body are for everybody (literally, every body).
This Girl Can – Victoria is an empowering campaign from VicHealth, based on Sport England’s highly successful This Girl Can campaign (which motivated a whopping 3.9 million women in England to take their fitness into their own hands).
This Girl Can – Victoria advocates for all women – to get active in supportive and welcoming environments.
People and Parks Foundation
The People and Parks Foundation connects people to nature to help improve their health and wellbeing. The foundation contributes to making natural environments healthy and accessible for future generations. As strong believers in the Healthy Parks Healthy People philosophy they believe that connecting people to nature benefits the health and wellbeing of individuals, the community and the environment.
It is widely acknowledged that human interaction with nature is a prescription for good health, and that nature is integral to improving and maintaining health. A healthy, well-utilised, accessible park system is integral to the maintenance of a healthy, active society.
