Looking for some free activities to keep the kids busy these School Holidays? Look no further than the Greater Shepparton City Council's Activities in the Park program.
Greater Shepparton City Council would like to invite you to participate in the Autumn School holidays Activities in the Park program.
This year the Activities in the Park program commenced in January delivering over 150 of free and low-cost activities throughout the Greater Shepparton region. The program is due to conclude in May 2022.
All sessions are delivered by local facilitators including sports clubs, businesses, community groups and state sporting associations. Like so many, the organisations that are participating in the activities have had a difficult 2 years.
All activities as part of this program are provided free of charge to participants.
This year, all activities require pre-registration to assist us to comply with COVID-19 restrictions.
The activities on offer as part of the Autumn School Holidays are as follows
Fix your bike with Dr Crankys - Learn basic repairs for your bike. Dr Cranky's will teach parents and children how to fix a bike.
Glow Bugs - Gather your bug kit and personalise your own bug! Using glitter, gemstones and sequins!
Hoopercise for Families - Hula hoops, fitness, music - let’s do this! 60 minutes of cardio and toning. Get the family together and burn mega calories!
Learn to Shred Shepparton - One hour skateboarding lessons facilitated by former world champion, and Olympic skateboard judge, Renton Millar.
Kite Making in the Park ‘Chris's Kites’ - This fun and creative kite making workshop will see you colour in your own kite and have fun flying it. This activity is in memory of a member of our team who passed away, Christine Flynn.
Nature Recycled Art - Collect your instructions, explore nature, gather your materials within the park surrounds and create an amazing artwork!
Olympic Fun - Join the team from Start Outdoors for some Olympic Fun. The activity will have you trying your luck at many of the Olympic Game sports that we all enjoyed during last years Tokyo Olympics!
Pedal Karts Go Kart Tour - Pedal around Kialla Lakes in It’s Party Time Jumping Castles’ pedal-powered go karts! Take in the nature and environment of the Lake as you cruise around on a warm summer’s afternoon.
Pirate Treasure Hunt - Join us on the search for buried treasure at the Shepparton Toy Library! Sand play, treasure hunt and big toy fun in the secure grounds of the Toy Library for ages 0-6. Planks - Planks is an open ended self-directed block-play session. Use planks to build your creative mind! Each plank is identical in size and shape allowing structures to be held together by gravity and balance alone. The session is run as a drop-in activity so you can come along at any time you wish. Rainbow Painting - An exciting and colourful canvas art workshop held by local artist Sophletta. This kid’s workshop will dive into the world of colour and fun by transferring streamers and crepe paper onto canvas, to create a vibrant piece of artwork. Salsa in the Park - Beginners salsa lesson for all ages. Participants will learn the basic rhythm, timing, and action of salsa dancing and practice to vibrant salsa music (pre-recorded). Participants then learn some basic salsa steps and partnering and put together a short routine or Rueda (style of salsa dancing in a circle) so that they can have fun and feel like they are truly dancing salsa.
