Greater Shepparton City Council’s Activities in the Park team has been busy preparing the April school holiday activity schedule to make sure no child is bored during their break.

The team will run a number of free and low cost activities across the municipality between 7-18 April.

Each session is delivered by local facilitators including sporting clubs, businesses, community groups and state sporting organisations.

The activities kick off on Sunday 7 April with an Active @ School session at the Katandra West Recreation Reserve.

The team will make their way through Dookie, Tatura, Shepparton, Kialla, Toolamba and Undera before concluding in Mooroopna on 17 and 18 April.

Activities will include spotlight walks, kite making, orienteering, sandcastle play and pedal karts and much more.

Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe, said the holiday program offers a wide range of experiences that can help parents encourage their children to be active.

“These activities all provide a safe and inclusive environment for any family that wants to be involved,” she said.

“Our facilitators will be making their way around the district and hope to see as many children there as possible.

“The activities are affordable and in most cases free so we encourage everyone to get together with family and friends and get along to as many of the activities as they can.”

Council’s Manager Active Living, David Booth, encouraged local families to make the most of Council’s free Get Mooving App.

“The app has all the information every family in Greater Shepparton needs to stay active,” he said.

“This includes information on our school holiday programs, as well as many other initiatives to help local people get moving.”
