Looking for some free activities to keep the kids busy these School Holidays? Look no further than the Greater Shepparton City Council's Activities in the Park program.

Greater Shepparton City Council would like to invite you to participate in the Spring School holidays Activities in the Park program.

All sessions are delivered by local facilitators including sports clubs, businesses, community groups and state sporting associations. 

All activities as part of this program are provided free or low cost to participants. 

The activities on offer as part of the Spring School Holidays are as follows

Boulevard Bush Reserve Community Day

RiverConnect and Shepparton Mooroopna Urban Landcare Group invite you to immerse yourself in our beautiful Boulevard Bush Reserve. Learn about the plants and animals that live here, help with a squirrel glider nest box survey and try our fun treasure hunt. Morning tea is included.

Along the River Clean up

Why wait until Clean Up Australia Day to help keep our area beautiful! Come down to Dainton's Bridge along the Goulburn and let's clean up around our waterways. BBQ lunch provided.

Breakfast with the Birds

RiverConnect and Birdlife Murray Goulburn present Breakfast with the Birds! Birdlife Murray Goulburn members will take you on an avian adventure, identifying the amazing variety of birds that frequent Reedy Swamp. A delicious FREE BBQ breakfast will follow

Cardboard Box Play and Make Do

Using cardboard, safe cutters, tape, felt tip pens and MakeDo connectors and tools participants create their own world of cubbies, shops, wearable art, vehicles and more.

Circus for all

Circus arts activities for all ages and abilities, Uncaged Spirit Circus Workshops are all inclusive of ability and background. Participates will explore prop manipulation such as hula hoops, spinning plates, staff, balance props and more. Participates will also get to try some acrobatic skills as well as partner and group acrobatics. This activity is suitable whether you are a beginner or already have developed acrobatic skills.

Cushion Concert with Dramarama

Join in the fun and high energy through dance, singing and laugher. Cushion Concerts are held in the Function Rooms at Eastbank amongst beautifully plush rugs for children to sit or lie on. The flat floor set up is perfect for access with prams, making it ideal for mums groups, grandparents, families, preschools and any. Cushion Concerts are a relaxed and inexpensive introduction to music and performance for all ages. Come along and join in all the fun!

Get Slimed

Measure, mix, and create amazing slime. Is it solid or liquid? Take your creation home for more science fun. Slime is one of the coolest polymers out there and we make ours with a whole lot of laughter!

Hoopercise

Get into the spin and get fit the fun way! We will spin up a storm in our hula hoops - burning 7 calories per minute and toning our abs, obliques, shoulders, biceps and triceps. Did I mention hilarity? There'll be loads of that too. Good for your body, mind and spirit. Hoopercise is more than just waist-hooping. Learn a hoop swag of off-body tricks and get your giggle on while you work out. Get into the spin! No experience or hips required. “I don’t have the hips for it” is a total myth.

Kite Making

This fun and creative kite making workshop will see you colour in your own kite and have fun flying it around your local park.

Learn to Shred Shepparton

One hour skateboarding lessons facilitated by former world champion, and Olympic skateboard judge Renton Millar. Equipment provided if you don’t have a skateboard - helmets not provided.

Mindful Meditation Kids

Movement to guided meditation, music and taping into nature and ones surroundings.

Mini Pot Plan Decorating

To celebrate that spring has sprung, join us in painting and decorating your own mini terracotta pot. Soil and seeds will also be provided.    

Nature Photography

Want to hone your photography skills to capture the beauty of our local environment? RiverConnect and the Shepparton Camera Club invite you to a nature photography session at Reedy Swamp. BYO camera.

Orienteering

Orienteering is a sport for all ages and abilities that keeps your body fit and mind active.  Use a map to find check points in our beautiful landscape.  No prior experience is necessary – just a sense of adventure. 

Rainbow Painting

An exciting and colourful canvas art workshop held by local artist Sophletta. This kids workshop will dive into the world of colour and fun by transferring streamers and crepe paper onto canvas to create a vibrant piece of artwork.

Run Jump Throw

Running, jumping and throwing are the foundation skills for participation in many sports. Join Kim from Start Outdoors for an hour of fun games that will build your child's confidence in these skills.

Sprout Mud and Messy Play

Come and explore the newly opened Sprout Edible Garden at KidsTown. The Kiwanis Shepparton Sunrisers will be around all day to answer any questions. Plus lots of fun kids activities: Mad Mud Kitchen, Veggie Stamping, and Spiral Painting. Learn about the water cycle and what is inside the drinks we drink with the new interactive GV Water signs.

World Rivers Day

Join millions around the world as we celebrate World Rivers Day! Join RiverConnect at KidsTown and munch on some popcorn during a screening of the cinematic masterpiece 'River'.

There will be lots of activities for the whole family and a FREE community BBQ. From 1:30pm, Uncle Rueben Baksh will take a small group on a unique and memorable cultural walk on The Flats to learn about significant events and hear personal stories of life growing up on the banks of the Goulburn River.
